I am Thomas Mimi, interior designer. I have been working since 2011. I have been a project manager, freelancer at different companies. Then in 2017, I launched my own company Kaizo Studio. I am now based in Bourg-la-Reine.

I work as an interior designer and project manager in Paris and the Paris region. I handle housing projects for individuals.

Your daily challenges?

I work alone in Kaizo Studio. As you can imagine, there is a lot of work. So the biggest challenge is to optimize time-consuming tasks. My goal is to save a bit of time on everything.

Surveying, in particular, is a task that requires a lot of time and concentration. When I make an appointment with a client, I like to be efficient. But taking measurements is a process that can take a long time. Sometimes I can forget a small measurement. This requires me to go back to the site to correct the mistakes. This is sometimes a considerable waste of time.

Why iMapper?

In order for me to be more efficient, I need tooptimise my time. I've been working in the world of architecture since 2011, so I've tested a lot of tools to take measurements. I used the disto and the laser meter a lot. But when I set up my agency, I was looking for an efficient, simple and affordable tool to free up time during my appointments.

There are solutions on the market, such as 3D scanners and other building surveying devices, but they are very expensive and difficult to use.

Then I found the iMapper which seemed to meet my expectations. .

It is small, compact, light and less expensive. And it answers my problem of having an accurate reading on a given plane.

What was it like to survey before iMapper?

The difficulty of the survey depends on the building. This step can be easy but also very time consuming. When I have to take measurements in a building that is a bit crooked or old, I quickly lose track .

Working alone, it's very easy toforget a small detail when taking a coastline, in the diagonals... More than once I have come back to the office and realised that I am missing things. So I have to go back to the client for these little oversights in order to have measurements for the creation of a correct plan.

In addition, there are customers who have questions or want to talk during this process which requires a lot of rigour and concentration .

What is it like now?

Now that I'm working with the iMapper portable scanner, it's much easier.

During a meeting with the client, I arrive and set up the tripod. The iMapper does its job. I just have to move it from room to room.

Each scan takes between 4 and 5 minutes. The big difference is that I now have time to talk to the client. It has really changed the way I work!

And when I come back from the visit, I am sure that I have an accurate and reliable plan .

So it makes the work a lot easier.

What would you say to companies to convince them to use the iMapper?

If you have been using a laser meter, a tape measure and trust these tools, you can trust the iMapper.

The iMapper provides the same result but in a stand-alone way. It takes a measurement every 2-3 cm depending on the setting. This is very accurate. And, it prevents mistakes or omission when taking measurements.

I can now go to every sales meeting with less pressure.

It's doing a job on its own.

What are the financial benefits of the iMapper?

Without iMapper : an hour and a half on site, three to four hours in the office to go over the plan. And that's assuming it goes well and there are no mistakes...

With iMapper : three quarters of an hour for measurements and an hour and a half for redesigning in the office.

If I do the math with my hourly rate, the difference is obvious. The iMapper is now fully integrated into my processes and there is no difference.

To sum up?

Compact, lightweight, easy to use and very, very accurate.
