Nicolas is a sketchUp trainer and Youtube tutorial creator for Adebeo, a training agency specializing in SketchUp and its world. His curiosity for new technologies led him to test iMapper. Nicolas presents his test in a video. He talks about the functionalities of iMapper and explains how to use the data created in SketchUp.

iMapper and its application

In the first part of the video, Nicolas introduces you to iMapper, its origin, the composition of the pack, and how it works indoors and outdoors.

If you work in interior design, renovation or as an architect it is really an easy and comfortable tool that saves you time for taking measurements.

In this section, he also presents the iMapper application, including the importation of point clouds and their assembly with the help of the magic wand, which really impressed him .

I'm really impressed with the magic wand tool for repositioning/.../ already I was really impressed with the rendering and the ease of working and now I'm really impressed.

Modeling in SketchUP:

In a second step Nicolas imports the dxf files into sketchUp. He then explains step by step how he makes the modeling from the point clouds.

The Test Conclusion:

On the points I wanted to test I am really happy with the aspects: ease of use, accuracy and interval setting. For the ease of use, it starts from the reception of the product with all the necessary elements to start scanning. The machine itself is quite easy to use, with some manipulations, but in the end quite intuitive. Then, to be able to free up time by letting the scanner run is just royal. For the accuracy, with the two centimeter step you can see all the variations in the walls and as I showed you by comparing the different scans you can determine the thickness of some walls. I can also see the details of a window or a door.
